Good thing about this holiday is that I have been reading newspaper. So I came across these articles regarding 'respect for refs'. My first impression? Rubbish talk! -.-
It's very simple. You want people to respect you refs? You respect the players 1st. EARN RESPECT TO GET RESPECT! As simple as that. Why this debate actually came up (not to say the 'respect for refs' campaign was a total failure) is all because the refs have not been making consistent decisions. In fact, some are absolutely bizarre. And now, not only the players are losing it. The managers are stepping up liaox. Whose fault? All started with the refs. If the decisions in a game by refs are MOSTLY RII think GHT, and they are able to CONTROL THE PLAYERS, then no one would complain, right? Alex Ferguson, Man Utd's manager, feel refs don't give his players enough security. I think, most non-physical side do feel the same way, just 'using' Ferguson as their "head complainer"! XD Nevertheless, refs need to get their job done WELL, before they want others to start respecting them. So right now, FA should SHELF IT!!! It's not working anyway~
Elsewhere, I think the New Paper's Iain Macintosh writes really good articles. He calls himself "Your English Kaki". It may be sports, but I shall prove that sports articles can teach you good english skills too! :D
One great example is the article on 5 Nov in The New Paper, titled "Bad boy Barton pushes his luck". I love this article and made me really impressed with his writing... ;) Here's some quotes from his aritcle:
1.* "Just one week after his composed, match-winning performance against WBA, the halo above Joey Barton's head began to slip."
2.** "For a man who is reported to be quite clever, this was stupidity on a grand scale."
3. "If only you could take his brain out and replace it with something more reliable, a pot plant perhaps or a small house brick, then you'd have an international class footballer".
4. ** "It should be quite simple. If you've just got out of prison for assaulting a team-mate and if you still have a suspended ban still hanging over your head, don't go around flicking people's noses and don't fly into tackles as if you're addicted to the sound of breaking bones" (funny eh? Sarcasm at its best! XD)
And this is my favourite.
5. *** "It's the sheer lunacy of a man who knows that every camera is trained on him losing his temper. It's the gross negligence of someone who knows that his career is hanging over a precipice, failing to keep his composure long enough to save it."
(Precipice = a very steep rock or cliff, typically a tall one)
Genius writing, isn't it? I'm not really trying to gain Macintosh (he sounds like a computer by the way :P) some supporters, but I do hope he can write more of such articles.
At least there will be one person who will appreciate his articles. ;)
Current Music Playing: Decode by Paramore (the song from Twilight the movie soundtrack)
How can I decide what's right?
When you're clouding up my mind
Can't win your losing fight all the time
Not gonna ever own what's mine
When you're always taking sides
You won't take away my pride
No, not this time
Not this time
How did we get here?
I use to know you so well
How did we get here?
Well, I think I know
The truth is hiding in your eyes
And its hanging on your tongue
Just boiling in my blood
But you think that I can't see
What kind of man that you are
If you're a man at all
Well, I will figure this one out on my own
(I'm screaming "I love you so... But my thoughts you can't decode")
Can't keep on loving you
from a distance...
