Still, she's so so hot to me, b'coz she stays in the media for all the right reasons. ;)

Who is it? It's none other than the ever-sweet Carrie Underwood.

I admit, she will never make it as big as another country star, Taylor Swift, partly b'coz Carrie didn't cross the pop boundaries like Taylor did, and probably would not. But my oh my, Carrie can really really sing. Almost every of her song captivates mi with those vocal ability.

Which is why, I think she should juz stick to what she does best - country, soulful music.

Furthermore, the lyrics is juz brilliant. It's one of those songs that I can really feel the emotions evoked by Carrie. It's those songs that you just wanna sympathise with the singer. Oh I so wanna go give Carrie Underwood a big teddy-bear hug!!!

A masterpiece. ;)

Still, most importantly, I think there is something we can learn from this song. Honestly when you first listen to it, you'll find the front part really really boring. But as the song moves on, it builds up, and your kept emotions deep down in your heart starts to run.

Then..."I guess it's gonna have to hurt, I guess I'm gonna have to cry, and let go of some things I've loved to get to the other side" The true moment of relief of pain. All the emotions are let out at one go.

Not everything is perfect at the start, but as it moves on, you'll slowly start to appreciate the things in life, even going back to give it one more look/listen. ;)

Also, you shouldn't judge people from the start. You should get to know him/her summore, then can you have the right to judge him/her. ;)

Facts: I won tennis doubles. Champion! :D But I must admit, I would be nowhere near the final if nt for my doubles partner (which was randomly chosen, so I CAN'T BELIEVE MY LUCK!), Sam Woolhead. Only saw him play once before the competition, so I'm reli lucky to get a doubles partner who has been playing since 5?! (according to wesley 1~)

Oh and I lost singles to brian 7-4, the 2nd last point played was awesome...good psychological boost for mi, given I was 6-3 down by then alr. It was a freaking long rally then left brian on the ground on all fours, head down! :P

On the physical side of the game, I still nid to improve on my serve consistency (esp 2nd serve), and most importantly, my backhand. My forehand's getting better by the days. ;)

Yea yea yea so dat was reli juz facts. Boring boring facts. But I still think that's not what I enjoyed for the day.

I think the biggest takeaway I had for the day, is the amount of new friends I knew, and the bridging of better fwenships for those whom I already know. ;)

Actually, I only got to know Sam, since I already knew (pepper?) and Ethan beforehand. Hmm who else? Oh the adults...but they always duno run where 2 rest, so nv talk 2 them much. Duno my loss or theirs? XD

ANYWAY, so it's the bridging of better fwenships for those whom I already know that is my biggest takeaway. :D Namely... (take a semi-deep breath please)

I tried on my cap today. I guess i'm gonna wear it tmr too :P

Saw Ethan playing today. Everyone's saying how good he is, along with Sam Woodhead (sum angmoh whom I duno whether I got the name rite :S). But I remember sumting I read about Nadal in the Time magazine, which roughly says this:

Hence, I start to observe the movement of Ethan. The problem with him? He used to have knee problem, so he can't reli bend well. So the solution? Move him around the court, drop shots and baseline shots. Even though I can b sure he didn't play his best today coz he's up against his much easier 'opponents' in the mould of his parents and his sis (the "Pepper" girl), he still seems beatable to me. We'll see if I'm right.

As for Sam, I only saw him playing once, but I duno how much he has improved, or not. What's most important is, he doesn't noe how much I have improved either :P

See? Everyone has their weakness.

***Besides, you should be happy if you get difficult opponents. B'coz you have NOTHING TO LOSE AT ALL. You lose, you can think it's the obvious, and you think of how you can improve your game. But if you win, they are the ones who become malu!!!

I can tell you, that feeling, is UNBELIEVABLE one.

However, I noticed after playing very well at the start, I start to deteriorate near the end of training. For one, the freaking disastrously hot weather played a lot on my mind. Still, it doesn't bring away the fact that it's coz I lose my concentration and energy totally.

I think I need to work on my stamina summore. Rebecca, you long distance runner leh...teach me how train stamina!!! XD

As for concentration, this kind of thing is your mental edge. No one can help you, I guess you have to figure this one out yourself. ;) It's all in your head!!!

All in all, I think I can sum up how I'm gonna play tmr and for months/years to come:

I really do not like people using these as school bags.

I mean, it's school rite? Using that as school bag? For goodness sake, it's a usual bag for outings leh, for you to stuff all you want in dat big bag.

Yes, it's cool, no doubt about it. But dat's basically all I can say about it, cool. So it's for your casual use, not for school use, rite?

Come to think of it, why can't 2-strap bags be cool too, rite? :D Furthermore, 2-strap bags have evolved into quite trendy too ;)

Even if you put all the worksheets nicely in files, it's so casual, too casual, GIRLS AND GUYS ALIKE!!! -.-

Besides, I know the bags are so big you can put a lot of books, but it also means it'll be very heavy!!! So it's bad for your back :S

Currently, I muz admit I see this problem more in girls than guys. In fact, those guys who carry those kinda bags is coz they ditto-ing girls. -.-

Personally, I prefer girls who carry 2-strap bags. Almost always, whenever I see girls in sch uniform carrying this kind of bag, I tend to juz shake mi head slightly (so that it's not so obvious :P) Oh please, you're going to school, people...so give yourself the impression that you ARE GOING TO SCHOOL...to study!

Hence,

juz use it as a casual bag, or at most a sports bag. Bring it as an extra bag 2 sch if you want, but to me, the usual 2-strap bag is still a must, a need-be.

Moving on, tennis itself was amazing!!!

But first off, I tink I shall analyse the performance of some ppl in tennis. And of course, give credit! ;)

Let's start with the most obvious. Anyone in tennis will see who naturally can play tennis liaox. It's Rebecca!!! Relying on only once a week's tennis [rite?], the improvement is plain awesome. Not even I improved dat fast when I started! Mind you, it took me almost 2 years to get to where I am! Still, she's only just started, showing promise in her forehand and backhand strokes. But there's still a long way to go, like service and esp volleys. Let's not talk about placing deep shots and drop shots, k? That's still too far for her ba, I guess ;) Waa top 50 cross-country runner summore (sum1 told mi 1:P), gt potential!

Next, it's Ashley. Hahax another very obvious 1. But I muz say, it's coz she has private training with coach. Still, it's improvement dat's reli faz. ;) She can hit forehand, backhand, and can serve too. ;) Btw, her service ain't reli those simple placement service. Hers has the ability to go for Aces leh! That's why, beware! xD Still, I think she has a few areas to work on. For one, she's not reli the fastest mover around the court. So she has to either work on her footwork, or her instinct, or both, which is of course the best. ;) Also, she has to work on volleys. Nevertheless, it's good to see her learning to add slices into her game. That could probably be becoz of us boys who always add slices to make them run. :P

Hahax as for the next 1, juz started not too long ago, but today seem 2 be on the right track alr. Yes, it's Shermaine. xD She's starting to focus and return balls back alr. Keep it up! Uhh give yourself encouragement whenever you managed to get the ball in the court. That you did, but remember, YOU STILL HAVE TO CONTINUE THE POINT!!! So can't just stop there! xDSince she's just starting, she'll definitely have a lot to work on. Room for improvement, but time will tell. Patience, the right attitude as well as CONFIDENCE is what's needed now. ;)

Yes, you do hit a few balls out, but that happens to everyone at the start too. So fret not, if you continue to focus like you did today, I doubt balls would reli fly out. ;) Hmm, I guess you can use your sis as your role model ba, although you too have different styles of play. [that style of play part a bit too early for u liaox xD]

Maybe it's coz I had an aim today. I told myself...today, I shall just take the shots in front of me, instead of the usual side, and focus from there. It worked dividends! I saw my shots going in with a lot of top spin. WHy? Because taking in front of you means you can see where you're hitting the ball. The rest is history. ;)

I went all the way to the 'final' for the Survival game! 1st time, if I'm not wrong. And it's more fruitful than I tot. Coz after playing so many times against Brian, I think I noe how to play him liaox. :P I think. Besides, every1 has their weaknesses. :P So do I! xD

I may seem like I can run, but I seriously think I can better. My forehand/backhand strokes are getting better (which I'm reli satisfied), but there's a huge room for improvement there. ;)

Nevermind ba, as for today, nothing much reli happened.

The only memorable thing was in Maths class, when Mr Png is teaching us on Probability. That's like the 'clean' term...coz the 'dirty' term is wad we come to know...as GAMBLING! XD

Except we're gambling from a mathematical POV. :P

Oh I rmb liaox...at the start of maths lesson was pretty boring, but when Png started talking about the poker cards, that's where the hilarious comedy took place. He started off by asking how many cards there are in a deck (excluding joker cards). Duh 52!

Then he went on to draw spades, and said spades; clubs (flowers) and said (clubs). But he totally jumbled up hearts and diamonds! He drew hearts and said diamonds; drew diamonds and said hearts.

And to think hearts and diamonds are actually the more BASIC SHAPES compared to spades & clubs~ WAHAHAHA

But that's not all.

He then went on to write out all the numbers and heads in one shape (spades, for example)

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K, ACE

Then he counted them...eh? 14 NUMBERS!!!

Of course lar! Look carefully and you'll see that there's an extra 1!!!

(People who play cards will know ACE = 1)

This juz totally made us question whether Mr Png, in his sixties, have even touched a deck of cards before, man.

But that's why maths is the most fun class, and also the most disciplined, I guess ;)

It is reli reli hard to mix those 2 together, but Mr Png has done it exceptionally well, commanding discipline and respect while also adding his version of humour.

Woohoo! I caused 1 whole building in my school to lose electricity ytd!!! :P

Well it reli isn't my fault lor. Simply put, my mac was running low of batt...so I went to the back of the class to charge my laptop. But once I plugged it in and switched it on, the whole room went dark!!! :P One group was doing presentation before this happened. xD

It affected the room besides ours too, but more importantly, it BADLY AFFECTED the staff room for the Chinese Department. Why? Coz of technology lor...

To 'ensure security in the staff room', the doors now are all magnetic doors dat nid a card to get in. So what happens when there's no electricity at all in the building? The door STAYS MAGNETICALLY SHUT, and the teachers are stuck inside a dark room, breathless! :P

Don't blame me, blame technology.

Still, I think my classmates didn't blame me. They seem to enjoy the good slack 15 mins we managed to get. And for some, excellent sleeping time. ;)

Still, it's not gonna dampen our mood that easily. :D We went on with our plan as scheduled (albeit slightly later :P). We still played tennis, on the wet floor! :P Fun seh...if we actually ran in the court, it's like playing in clay court, can slide here slide there. Woohoo!!! Nice try, rain.

Oh ya, forgot to tell y'all...the tennis playing was juz a way of distracting Shaun from looking at the preparations for the little surprise party. Hehe...

Then came the surprise part. Well honestly, I didn't expect the effect to be dat effective. Shaun actually cried, of joy should be. XD But there was a spoiler lor...sum dude by the name of Jonathan. XD Hahax while we're singing the bday song, he walking on the other end of the pool, looking as sleepy as usual. Totally spoiler xD, but it was a point to laugh at.

Next came training. There were 2 new faces, 1 is Ethan's sis (called Pepper?! O.O), and the other's Shermaine's good fwen, Wan Ning. Super quiet, both ppl. XD Hahax...but I tink that happens to everyone's first training, except Shermaine, I tink. :P

Back to me, I think I did rather well this week. I managed to constantly remind myself to take the shots in front of me, n DON'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE THAT SWING. Play with confidence, that's what's most important. Fearless! :D

Then came swimming. And I shall make it clear first and foremost,

But uhh...away from me, it took reli long for us to get settled and play monkey again. This time, Rebecca and Jia Yi, and Wan Ning joined us, which resulted in a huge group of people seh! But it was fun. At least sum1 got to laugh in my face when I couldnt catch the ball -.-

Only when we started getting tired did I realise that we spent almost 3 hours in the pool! Then we ate the wonderful food dat Shermaine's mum left there. (do we sound lyk scavangers? :S)

So all in all,

I think the only flaw of the day, is that I didn't get 2 play enuf tennis :(

Nevertheless, that's not gonna bring me down.

What I mean is, it takes really long to like a song.

Looking at my playlist, I can give you a few examples actually.

I can tell you, a lot of ppl will super disagree about this. But I kinda like their new sound. They're like trying to sound a little R&B, which is pretty cool, and especially different from the bubblegum pop they're known for in their 'boyband days'. There's even a guitar solo in the song which I love darn lots! C'mon Kevin! ;) (hahax I prefer Kevin out of the 3 lookalikes xD). I just heard Kevin recently got married. Hahax he's the oldest in the family. So It's ok lar. Wahaha!!!

Unfortunately, if you have listened 2 the entire album, only this song sounds R&B! xD The others (except Fly With Me) sounds very sub-standard~~~ :S

Still, I prefer them with their bubblegum pop. It produces more hits for them. (But one or two songs like Paranoid is nice too ;) )

Star-studded cast, nonetheless. But you wouldn't believe how long it took me to wanna take this song into my playlist. (You've no idea, quoted from sum1 :P) But it's a nice collabo...the chorus is pretty nice, and Ne-Yo's soulful voice. Other than dat, I duno wad 2 say liaox :P

A freaking hot band nowadays. It sounds totally different form their previous album, which I have. To me, they sound better. :D

It's more dance track this time round. But it took constant constant listening, and a lot of pressure from fwenz :P, to like this song. But after that, this song sounds awesome, man! :D :D :D

You know, it actually took me that long, that the song has stayed on 987fm's playlist, went into top 20 987FM chart, reached number 1, then exit the top 20, before I started to like the song. Ironic? Yea. :P

Hahax this 1 is partly influenced by someone who likes Taylor Swift...a lot. But mostly is coz the radio never fails to play a Taylor Swift song. >.<

To be honest, Taylor Swift's a really pretty girl. :D She has a round face (hahax i also have round face xD), but most importantly, she's clean. Clean in the sense that she stays in the media for the right reasons, till date. :P A part of me says she'll stay that way, coz she looks so innocent, and I like that. ;)

K back to the music. This song is actually a more upbeat, country pop kind of song. Mebbe dat's why it took me quite some time to get used to it. Still, I think the 1 real thing that captured me is the lyrics in this song. Really interesting~ ;)

It took the korean version and the slow version from my classmate who sits beside me, Yang Cheng (who is super into Wonder Girls), the english version this week on 987FM for me to like it enough to go download it.

Still, I don't really love it. Like only, coz their english not very good. Very korean english :P

Human greed is not talking about humans' eagerness of devouring food. It's talking about the want for something else, be it a physical thing, or a demand. But still, I think demand is the worst.

Just look at ourselves. We don't kill, we don't rebel, we don't fight, we don't smoke. And still it's not enough. People want awesome behaviour...FLAWLESS behaviour. Those where every kid is like some heavenly god.

But sometimes, these people have to look at themselves. If they want us kids to be perfect 10, then naturally we'll look up to them as examples. And what do they show us? Temperamental behaviour. I'm not talking about results here, i'm not going to.

Sometimes, enjoying the simplest things in life are more than enough. We don't need to have awesome grades everytime. To me, what really matters most in life, is the behaviour towards life. Optimistic, upright person. Fair enough for me, man. Grades is a really materialistic thing and, need I say, it's a piece of paper. It's external, but what's most important is what happens internally.

Asking your conscience.

That was how close this match between Federer and Roddick was.

I don't think anybody expected it to be such a classic fight. Not even me, to be honest. In fact, I didn't even wanna watch the finals, thinking that it's definitely an easy 3 set win for Federer. But when I came home, the live score update on my computer showed 1-0 in sets, 6-6 in games, 5-2 in points. TO RODDICK!!! Without hesitation, the TV was switched on and I was sitting like a couch potato there.

Unfortunately Roddick sumhow lost that set. o.o

But just as you thought Roddick is going down and out with that huge psychological blow of losing from 5-2 up, he quickly regains his composure and played his game, managing to break Federer's serve in the 4th set to win 6-3 to set up a final deciding set thriller.

This was how physically and mentally drained Roddick is after the match. It was really hard to watch, especially for him. He keeps on trying 2 force a smile, trying to crack a little joke like "Sorry Pete [Sampras], I tried to hold him, but I can't."

(Uhh for those who don't know what he means, he's talking about Federer overtaking Sampras's all-time record of most number of Grand Slam singles titles. Federer surpassed Sampras' 14.)

Take nothing away from Federer. He deserved the win with his calmness on the court [poker face!], his 50 aces, and his forehand shots. He plays like a real champion, 2 b honest. Every stroke looks effortless. This win means 2 things for him. 1 is breaking the all-time Grand Slam singles titles. 2 is him regaining his world number 1 ranking. But i'm not here to talk about him, he already has quite a number of spotlight on him.

I'm here to talk about Roddick.

You really have to applaud this man. He never gave up even though he knows he's the ultimate underdog, given that he went into the match with a head-to-head record of 18-2 in Federer's favour. He knows what his weaknesses are, but he also knows where his strengths are too.

His strokes may not be the best, but that didn't stop him from playing his best. Everytime he's facing a disadvantage, he can always count on those serve. He juz served bazookas after bazookas at Federer. Yes Federer had 50 aces compared to his 27. But those who watched the match, we all know how many service returns in there were for federer. One serve from Roddick (that I saw) even went straight into Federer!

I have seen many top players play before. Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, but no one has impacted mi that much.

Until today.

I think I can relate myself to Roddick. Huge service, but nt-so-gd strokes, just like me. But what I admire most about this guy is his ability to keep consistent throughout the entire game. At the start of Wimbledon, I always thought yes, Roddick has a huge serve, but it's impossible to keep it consistent over the course of the entire match, rite? This final proved me entirely wrong. Not only his serves are consistent, his strokes are too.

Besides that, he seldom gets angry with himself, keeping his emotions all to himself. This helps him to concentrate on playing every point one by one! I don't blame him for letting it all out at the end of the match. He knows he could have won that 2nd set, and deal a huge blow to Federer if he goes 2-0 up in sets. Those who watch the match would know. He sat there, looking down.

No one else, but juz down.

Bottling it up isn't good anyway. Still, he was strong enough mentally to stand up and thank his fellow supporters. Even after the trophy celebration, he couldn't help but dejectedly go back to his chair and reflect on the match, while Federer bask in his glory. You could just see the tears dripping down. Or could it be sweat? Sweat or tears, we know how hard a pill it is for him to swallow. While Federer walked around, Roddick suddenly regains his composure and appluads Federer in his seat again, sniffing back all the tears so no one could see a tinge of misery and regret in his eyes. That is, what I call, a real fighter. He should b a true loyal hero for the US.

For that, A-Rod, I salute you.

Of course, there are many areas which I must learn from the other players. Still, no one has been able to make mi relate to my own play,

as Andy Roddick.

Some may say it's past his prime already. I don't care.

I say, it's just a beginning of another chapter. To me, you're a true winner.

Tuesday - 12noon! (thanks to 2 periods of bio which i don't take :P)

Of course, this is excluding the cca timings on wednesdays and fridays, where I have to stay till 6pm >.<

Don't get me wrong, i tink he's a great teacher. In fact to me, he's the best teacher in my sec 4 year!!! ;) I just enjoy slack time.

Leave the looks and behaviours aside, and everything is perfect in him.

I mean really, if you do not care about his white-as-a-skeleton, overly 'plastic surgical-ed ' face and the accusations of his weird behaviours like pretending to drop his newborn baby from floors above, this man is a real legend. Just forget about all those and sit down, switch on your tv/computer to watch clips of his performances. His moves, his music, and occasionally his voice, is like an addictive drug. It lasts, and will last for years to come.

His influence is infectious. It grows so much that my brother is trying 2 learn the 'moonwalk'! Yes, the move that we also duno how MJ does so smoothly. I mean, who really knows how to do that before he stepped up the plate and delivered concerts that is what we see in other bands and singers? No one I tell you, no one.

He totally revolutionised the world stage. Before him, it was all those acoustic guitar, light drum beats. To put it short, old music. But once this guy popped out, his music introduced heavy drum beats. I can even dare 2 say he started the genre R&B himself, by introducing hard background drum beats! Think songs like Beautiful (by Akon, Colby O Donis, Kardinal Offishall), and Apologise (by OneRepublic). He even introduced guitar/piano solos! Think bands like Fall Out Boy. This is a man who has created fast, upbeat tempo music that we get now!!! Amazing, this man.

The Muttons used the video, Billie Jean for an example. Dance moves, totally influenced till this date. But those tiles in his mv that lights up (mebbe u didn't realise) have influenced what we know nowadays as Dance Dance Revolution. So his influence isn't just on the music itself, but those that slightly deter from music too!

Will there ever be another MJ? Now, I see none. Let's look at the options. Dance? You might blame mi for this, but I think the closest we have gotten is Chris Brown. Trust me, that guy can really dance, but he sounds nowhere similar to MJ. And influence, even further. As for voice, I think there is one artists that reminds me of MJ's voice. Colby O Donis. Of course, this is really debatable still. 

But revolutionising the world of music?

None.

For now, I only see bits-and-pieces of MJ, all without the whole article. There will only be one MJ, one King of Pop, but that doesn't mean we can't have King of (sumting else), rite? :D

I personally loved Black Or White. The beats, the guitar, THE MOVES...wow! I can't wait to get up and dance to that song! One who can 'sing', can create genres, and most importantly, CAN DANCE...no wonder he is called the King Of Pop.

Come to think of it, this guy's 'ugly side' is his influential side too. Everyone who listens music knows MJ was once a black (no offence), before going thru all that surgery to become the white-face he is now. But it was his switch of skin colour that brought about the song Black or White, and also the controversy of whether what he did was a boon or bane to his career.

One thing's for sure. Black or White, his moves have always been there, and always will be.

Yes peer pressure is one big barrier to overcome (and you might lose a fwen too :S), but to be honest, if someone really wants to be your friend, they'll come back again, and be grateful for you to have made them realised what they have missed out these past years.

Don't worry, you did what you can. We are humans, there's a limit to what we can do, but at least we push it to the limit. ;)
